Esme Lansdowne
Esme Lansdowne is a Cornish artist. Raised in St. Ives, UK and now working and living in Penzance, she is heavily influenced by Cornwall’s rich artistic heritage and the elemental forces of landscape and nature, that she seeks to surround herself with. Esme’s practice is mainly painting, however she also explores a number of other mediums such as assemblage, sculpture, sound and film. Through a lively interrogation into materials, Esme produces work that is heavily process and material led. Her use of pigment, often derived from the landscape she is responding to, helps explore and support the themes of ‘Place’, ‘Home’ and ‘Exploration’ in her body of work. The aim and achievement is to capture both a physical and metaphysical rendering of time, place, experience…home.
Esme is an emerging artist, however has already exhibited widely; showcasing in multiple galleries in the UK, as well as having some major and exciting plans to be announced after her time living overseas in New Zealand.
