Esme Lansdowne is a Cornish artist. Raised in St. Ives and now living in Falmouth, she is heavily influenced by Cornwall’s rich artistic heritage and her iconic surroundings. Esme’s practice is mainly abstract painting, however, she also explores a number of other mediums such as assemblage, sculpture, sound, and film.
Through a lively interrogation of materials, Esme's process of working is heavily material led. The themes of ‘Place’, ‘Home’ and ‘Exploration’ are clear throughout her body of work. She is particularly excited by the relationship between fine art and the written and spoken word, believing contemporary art is all about asking questions, pushing boundaries, and creating something individual and new.
